Ordination Sunday

Home > Pastor's Blog > Ordination Sunday

I want to start by thanking everyone who came out this past Sunday (August 29th) to participate in my ordination service. It was a real blessing to my family and I that you would come out and share this special day with us.

I’ve been the pastor of FBC Holley for three and a half years now. And while ministry is by nature a constant growing process, a first pastorate can really put you through the wringer. My years as a USMC pilot and in business provided a lot of experience with many issues, but nothing adequately prepared me for those first few months of being “Pastor”.

Along the way FBC blessed me by calling out (3) other men from among the congregation to come along side me and support me as Lay Elders of FBC. Their support, encouragement and prayers have been incredibly important for the work that we entered into. Looking back, I believe I speak for all of us when I say that while we did not do all things well, we did move forward with a love for Christ’s church and a clear sense of accountability before God for all that we did or did not do.

Since that time God has moved and reformed FBC in some truly remarkable ways. Those that have remained have grown to more clearly see the need for a diverse unity in our ministries together. On any given Sunday more than 50% of those attending are new to the church since 2007. And while we often miss those who have moved their fellowship to other places, we rejoice in those God is sending, reforming, and using to shape us into a united Body of Christ with a unified vision and mission for ministry in our village of Holley, NY and around the world.

Anyway … enough rambling. I thought you might like to hear a little from the service.
